This one-take stripped back recording exposes the two things Maia Toakley does best, song write and deliver it with strong, trustworthy vocals. Hesitant to call this a lockdown creation, whilst it was technically written during that time, the feelings Maia's described are often a regular occurrence for emerging artists, in isolation or not. Uncertainty, self-motivation and doubt are all things she continues to wrangle with as an independent solo artist. Written on her bedroom floor using her housemates telecaster that she had adopted, ‘I’m Told’ is Maia Toakley's most honest piece to date.
